Researchers from IGTP develop a reproducible animal model that mimics key features of creeping fat, opening the door to better understanding and new therapeutic strategies

A research team from the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute (IGTP), together with collaborators, has developed an experimental rat model that reproduces “creeping fat,” a characteristic feature of Crohn’s disease. This abnormal accumulation of adipose tissue surrounding inflamed intestinal segments plays an active role in disease progression.
